SUMMER ROWING

Novice / Beginner Rowing
(GREAT PROGRAM FOR YOUTH INTERESTED IN ROWING IN HIGH SCHOOL!)
People new to sweep rowing learn the fundamentals of rowing in a safe and fun
environment.  Participants are given an orientation on safety procedures, rowing
equipment, and rowing technique.  Novice rowers are then teamed up with intermediate
rowers to facilitate a quick transition to rowing.  In the remaining weeks, participants row
together to further refine technique and skill.

2011 Dates
June 13 through July 28
Practices are typically held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Each practice is from 6pm to 8pm

FEES:  $265 for Middletown residents, $290 for non-residents.

Participants are not required to be at each practice, but are strongly encouraged to attend
as many practices as possible.

Intermediate / Recreational Rowing
Returners to sweep rowing further refine their skills and rowing technique in a safe and fun
environment.  Rowers are teamed with individuals of similar skill levels for the season.
During the season, coaches will give critique and instruction to individuals while maintaining
a relaxed environment.

goal is to be competitive with other teams in the area as well as within the program.
Coaches assess participants on a minimum of three factors: technique, strength, and
compatibility.  These factors are used when determining boat seatings for practices and
races.  Rowers are expected to remain active the remainder of the week.
